FAST CARS: engineering a laser spectroscopic technique for rapid identification of bacterial spores.
Airborne contaminants, e.g., bacterial spores, are usually analyzed by time-consuming microscopic, chemical, and biological assays. Current research into real-time laser spectroscopic detectors of such contaminants is based on e.g., resonance fluorescence. The present approach derives from recent experiments in which atoms and molecules are prepared by one (or more) coherent laser(s) and probed...
متن کاملLASER EMISSION IN DIODE-PUMPED Nd:YAG SINGLE-CRYSTAL WAVEGUIDES REALIZED BY DIRECT FEMTOSECOND-LASER WRITING TECHNIQUE
Buried waveguides have been realized in a 0.7 at.% Nd:YAG single crystal using the direct-writing technique with a femtosecond laser. Efficient laser emission at 1.06 and 1.32 μm is demonstrated and laser action at 0.94 μm is obtained using the pump with fiber-coupled diode laser at 807 nm, the first demonstration of such devices.
متن کاملI-4: A Simple and Safe Technique for Varicocele Surgery
s:2127:"Varicocele is the most common pathologic finding in men in infertility study programs and is the most treatable cause of male infertility. Its correction is performed by different surgical techniques, none of which is yet acknowledged as the "gold standard." Some of them, especially the microsurgical ones, are very time consuming and thus expensive; furthermore, all varicocele surgery i...
متن کاملA Design Technique for Faster Dadda Multiplier
AbstractIn this work faster column compression multiplication has been achieved by using a combination of two design techniques: partition of the partial products into two parts for independent parallel column compression and acceleration of the final addition using a hybrid adder proposed in this work. Based on the proposed techniques 8, 16, 32 and 64bit Dadda multipliers are developed and com...
متن کاملSpectroscopic identification and direct imaging of interfacial magnetic spins.
Using x-ray absorption spectromicroscopy we have imaged the uncompensated spins induced at the surface of antiferromagnetic (AFM) NiO(100) by deposition of ferromagnetic (FM) Co. These spins align parallel to the AFM spins in NiO(100) and align the FM spins in Co. The uncompensated interfacial spins arise from an ultrathin CoNiOx layer that is formed upon Co deposition through reduction of the ...
